What
is a 3D Scan?
A
3D Scan is a baby scan that is conducted using the latest
ultrasound scanning technology to capture a still image
of your unborn baby. 3D Scans are captured in colour and
are used to see the outer layer of your unborn baby, giving
you a clear picture of what your baby looks like.
Why
get a 3D Scan?
Many mums to be get a 3D Scan so that they can see their
baby’s face in colour before birth, so that they
no longer have to imagine what their baby looks like.
Seeing really is believing.
3D
Scans give you an exceptional opportunity to bond with
your unborn baby. Imagine being able to see your baby’s
face smiling, yawning, and opening their eyes.A
truly amazing experience.
When
is the best time to get a 3D scan?
At
Apeekaboo Imaging we say the best time to capture your
baby’s animated movements through 3D Scans is between
20 weeks gestation & 32 weeks gestation. The optimum
time within this we suggest is around about 25 weeks –
27 weeks gestation for 3D Scans. This is because the fluid
that surrounds your baby will be at its most during this
time; allowing the ultrasound to send astonishingly clear
images of your baby from the womb to the screen, giving
you 3D Scans which are clear and extremely vibrant. Some
things to consider which will affect the quality of 3D
Scans are;
- Where
your baby is positioned
- Where
the baby’s umbilical cord is
- Where
your placenta is located
- The
amount of amniotic fluid present & mums size
