The first trimester is a period of rapid growth. This starts from the very first week of your pregnancy until 13 weeks + 6 days gestation.
From six weeks gestation we should be able to identify a small “fetal pole” we sometimes call this Crown Rump Length “CRL” at this stage we should see flickering cardiac movement.
How do we do this scan?
For the majority of women who have a viability scan we will offer an abdominal scan across the stomach which is called a Transabdominal scan however, sometimes if you are very early in your pregnancy we may need to ask permission to perform an internal ultrasound scan called a Transvaginal scan.
This is not painful or harmful to you or your baby, but the very best practice to assess an early pregnancy. If you choose to opt for our FreePeek view, you will still be able to see your tiny baby in 4D as we have the latest technology (4D Scan) Transvaginal ultrasound probe.
Remember our sonographer is also a registered qualified midwife, so any questions you may have regarding your pregnancy and the 4d baby scan, she will be happy to help answer!

We will give you a comprehensive report which is recognized within the NHS healthcare system, allowing your regular healthcare provider to assess you & your baby’s health & well being.
After you’ve made an appointment
We will send you a confirmation letter within the next couple of days, with the date and time of your appointment. This will include a detailed map and leaflet. If you need to change this then we will be happy to try to arrange this for you, regardless of whether you book a 3D pregnancy scan or 3D Scan London.
