FAQ’s

Who will be performing my scan?

Here at Apeekaboo all of our specialist team practice at the highest standard. You will be scanned by either a Midwife who specialise’s in Ultrasound or a Senior Sonographer. Both will be able to answer any questions or concerns you or your partner may have surrounding your scan.

Is 3D/4D ultrasound safe?

Ultrasound has been used safely for over 30 years in Obstetrics. World wide studies have not shown there to be any harmful effects to the mother or baby. Our Ultrasound machine is by GE Healthcare. This is state-of-the-art equipment and is regulated to the highest standard.

When can I have a 3D/4D scan?

We can perform this type of scan at anytime during your pregnancy, however we like to advise that the best time is between 20 weeks & 32 weeks gestation. 25 weeks being the optimum time.

Why?

We say this because during your pregnancy the fluid surrounding your baby will fluctuate. Between 22 to 28 weeks gestation is the period with the most fluid present. It is the presents of the fluid that propagates the ultrasound, therefore increasing our chance to produce clear, high quality images for you to keep. Not only this but the baby is small enough to maneuver & appears more animated during this time.

Will I be able to leave with my package?

Absolutely ! We will supply you with all your package contents for you to take away with you on the day, so you will be able to share your magical moments with family & friends the very same day.

What if I’m not satisfied with my images?

We can make no guarantees that the images will be similar to those you may have seen elsewhere or from our own website. Every baby scans differently depending on gestational age, the amount of fluid surrounding him/her, position & also the density of maternal skin.

What if the baby is in a awkward position?

We always try to obtain the very best images we can, but if your little one is feeling a little shy on the day then we always rearrange one further scan appointment with you & at no extra cost to you. (Please note, rescans are not performed at weekends)

Should I make my appointment in advance?

Yes, ultrasound appointments should be made as soon as possible. Saturday & Sunday appointments are the most popular times. However, we try to leave an hour appointment for emergencies so please call for availability we may be able to accommodate you. We ask for a £20.00 deposit on all scans so as to secure your slot.

How many people can I bring to my scan?

You are more then welcome to bring up to 3 people with you. Please ask at time of booking if there are more then 3 people. We will be able to advise you.
